Today I received my booty from Mojobreak.com from a recent 2012 Topps Finest Football Case Break. It was done random style and I got the Denver Broncos. Well I hit big on the case with several base and rookies, as well as several refractors, and then the big dogs, two Peyton Manning Refractors, one Red #'d to 50, and one Gold #'d to 25. I also hit on a Ronnie Hillman Rookie Patch Auto #'d to 50, featuring a three color patch. If you've never tried a box break, Mojobreak.com does it right. Check them out, great deals, free shipping, and they do it live on BlogTV.com.Thursday, August 30, 2012

Hurricanes and Sports Cards!
Let me tell you what happens to a couple hundred thousand pieces of cardboard when they are submerged in water. Almost 7 years ago, during Hurricane Wilma, I experienced the worst conditions I ever have in all my years of living in Key West. Hurricane Wilma was a Catergory 3 storm with sustained winds up to 120 mph, but it was the storm surge and the direction in which she came, that caused the most damage. 6-8 feet of storm surge swept across the lower keys and flooded a large majority of the homes and properties in the area. Our house, a ground level duplex, had about 25 inches of water inside, with about 48 inches outside, just about to the top of our chain link fence. In the closet of my computer room was the majority of my 12 year collection, stacked in shoe boxes ranging from 2-5 row, well over 150,000 cards soaked and destroyed, roughly 32 boxes. I really don't know what I lost because I never looked in the boxes, to painful, but what hurt the most was when the flood insurance adjusted said '"You know you don't have contents?" What, we don't have contents, what? How do you have flood insurance and not have the contents covered? Kind of like have fire insurance and not having contents covered. Lesson learned, the hard way, but the pain wasn't done yet. After lugging all these cards out and putting the in a pile for trash pickup, several hundred cards were spilled and left on the grond by the garbage men. A daily reminder of the past. A friend of mine actually salvaged a few cards, and a crushed can of Pinacle Inside Football, unopened. I still have those cards and can, as well as the memories of cards lost. As we prepare for tomorrow, Hurricane Isaac is bearing down on the Florida Keys, and expected to make landfall late Sunday night. I hope that Isaac doesn't collect cards like his older sibling Wilma, that's a trade I can't make or take again. Take care, stay safe, and keep dry.

Carpal Tunnel Rookies
Well I had the pleasure of participating in and watching an 8 box case break of some 2012 Topps Finest Football at Mojobreak.com. It was random style and I was fortunate enough to get the Denver Broncos. Although nothing earth shattering was pulled, the one rookie patch auto per box became the evidence that card companies are getting their money's worth out of these guys when it comes to signing cards. Rookie autos numbered to 13-1500, ridiculous. These young men are gonna get carpal tunnel syndrome before they can sign a contract. They probably hate Sharpies now, and wouldn't doubt that they growl at anyone asking for some signage. Come on card companies, getting an autograph should be exciting not bewildering.

Pujols Mystery Patch?
I pulled this card from the 2007 Topps Triple Threads Baseball a few years ago and have been puzzled by a piece of it ever since. I know it's a triple relic, and two of the pieces are jersey and bat, but the third piece is a black, patch like thingy, with red paint or something. I have looked at a variety of different uniforms the Cardinals wear and have worn and I can't seem to figure it out. Any help? Of course Topps leaves it wide open and won't specify which part or where it came from.

Are you ready for some football?
Now that the Olympics are over, no more Synchronized Diving, Field Hockey, Rowing, or Badminton, how are we gonna survive? Thank goodness it's almost football season. These preseason games are so hard to watch, and with the "scab" refs, how hard is it to figure out how far 15 yards is? It will be interesting to see Peyton in Denver, the two head Quarterback monster in New York, and how 'bout them Seahawks? Yeah, can't wait to see what Pete Carroll has up his sleeve this year. Oh well, at least I know what I will be doing on Sunday, Monday, and Thursday nights for the next couple of months.

Dollar Store Glossy RG3
Well today while out with the Boss paring down the Honey-Do list, we stopped by the Dollar Store for a few items. While waiting in line I spotted some 2012 Score Football, yes, what a great product, making it's way to the Dollar Tree in it's first week. I know that paying a buck for a pack of this wobbly table leveler is probably too much, but I couldn't resist. I scooped up 6 packs and waited my fate. I started popping these gems and quickly realized the every pack gumbo of one rookie and one glossy along with a wide variety of the 400 player base card veteran checklist. About the third pack in, I hit some dirt, not paydirt, just some dirt, a RG3 Glossy rookie, okay, now I'm at least satisfied with my meger investment.
Here are the Rookies including the RG3 Glossy:

“God bless America, and God bless the Seattle Seahawks.”
This weekend the NFL honored a few of the finest to ever play the game, including Chris Doleman, Curtis Martin, Willie Roaf, Dermontti Dawson, Jack Butler, and Cortez Kennedy. Being a lifelong Miami Hurricanes and Seattle Seahawks fan, watching Tez getting hir due respect made me very proud to be a fan of his. Playing for the Seahawks might not get you the most publicity but staying true to your team and your city is a rare and cherished thing these days. As Tez delivered the final line of his speech, I got goosebumps and chills, “God bless America, and God bless the Seattle Seahawks.” Thank You Cortez Kennedy, lifetime Seattle Seahawk, and one of the newest and proudest members of the National Football League Hall of Fame.

Super Mario
I have began to enjoy busting open high end product and last year, me and the nephew decided that 2010/11 Upper Deck The Cup Hockey would be the one. I have done pretty decent with the high end stuff and this was no exception. Cracking the seal and start digging, unveiling the grand prize. This Mario Lemieux Emblems of Endorsements Dual Patch Autograph Serial Numbered 01/15. This multicolor dual patch and on card auto is only trumped by the low number, and, well Mario!

Is Feild Hockey the new Volleyball?
I have to admit that the Netherlands Women's Field Hockey team caught my eye, and then I heard all the clamoring about it replacing Women's Volleyball as the newest thing to watch. I must say that the uniforms do add another reasons to watch the sport. And now this, Google, falling prey to Field Hockey, and making it it's header, wow. I would have thought that Gymnastics or Swimming would have got the nod today.
