Red Hot Red Zone

At a recent card show, I traded away one of my crown jewels for cash and cards.  Some would dispute what I got in trade as being a good or bad deal, either way, I got a Red Hot card. The trade was a Michael Jordan Autograph card, for cash and cards, and one of the cards I got in the trade was a 2011 Topps Cam Newton Red Zone Red Ink Rookie Autograph 046/100.  This thing is sweet, red ink, rookie auto, serial numbered, and it does help that Cam Newton just tore it up this week.  Sweet, running, passing, this guy can do it all.  No sophmore slump for this guy.

Lightning Strikes Twice!

I recently purchased a box break for my nephew for helping me out.  A four box Panini Prime Hockey break.  I pick the Tampa Bay Lightning for him, his favorite team, and boy did they light the lamp.  We got two hits, the same rookie, the same card, both numbered to 50. We hit on two Prime Time Rookies Brett Connolly Autograph Jersey Cards, numbered 18/50 and 26/50.  The Lightning definitely struck twice on this break.

The Bryce is Right!

After a long, successful day at the Key West Card Show, we decided to bust a box of 2012 Topps Chrome Baseball as part of the closing ceremony.  I popped it open and shared the four stacks of packs with Ashlyn, Steve, and my nephew Kevin Michael.  Everyone started popping and I was barely into my first pack when my Kevin Michael held out a redemption card as well as an autograph card.  The auto was Liam Hendriks, the redemption was a Bryce Harper Autograph Rookie Variation.  Boom, two in the same pack, and we got the HARPAH just like the Dish commercial. Wow, so we kept popping, ending up with four autos, two regular, one sepia, and the HARPAH! What a nice end to a great day.  I'm glad we got to share it with some special friends and family.

Wieners and The Wall

You gotta love the 2012 Allen & Ginter cards bringing back memories of things past and present.  My wife bought me a blaster box of AG from a recent visit to the mainland and with came a couple of special cards.  The first on was a Historical Turning Points "The Fall of the Berlin Wall" card which reminded me of my Army years spent in Germany during this historic time.  I was stationed in Baumholder, Germany, "The Rock" to most, for five years, from 1986-88 and again from 1989-92.  The second card is a mini from the Mans Best Friend set of the Dachshund. Being the owner of two long haired wieners, I have grown to love the low riding, carpet sharks in all their different shapes and sizes.  Although I'm not a big AG fan, today, they made me smile and remember how much I love Germany!
